The Unearthing BoxThe Unearthing box is a resource that both service user and practitioner work on together, ideally suited for one-to-one work and small groups. It helps achieve a sense of calmness and personal space in which people can hear themselves think. It enables rapport to be built quickly and naturally through a light and non-threatening approach: creating artwork about the things each person enjoys doing and then discovering their positive qualities. This helps positive and meaningful exchanges take place. The activities explore:- 1. personal strengths and how to use these to improve their life 2. moods and how to manage them 3. empathy for others by becoming more sensitive to other’s needs 4. identifying relationships to be improved and exploring positive ways to do this 5. hopes and dreams for the next year of our life
The core ‘Unearthing’ activities create a positive mood and encourage reflection. This helps broaden thought so that the individual can create a story journal of new ways of understanding and responding to people around them.
