Home of the Unearthing Box Hope Mountain is an innovative social enterprise who create the Unearthing Box, a fun to use resource for young people and adults that are struggling with life - helping to build self-esteem and solve life's tricky problems. All our ideas come from working with real people out in the community, and for many years we worked with pioneering organisations and gifted staff working in some of the most challanging areas of society. Yes, Hope Mountain is a real place, and our office and studio nestles on the side of if. At the risk of sounding corny, we like to think that our work is about hope and the up side of life.
Having designed creative projects for disadvantaged young people for many years, we decided to create a new resource for front line staff to use in projects tackling social exclusion - one that was fun and engaging - and at the same time helps build emotional intelligence and show young people how much they have to offer. So in 2008 we secured funding from the Arts Council, Home Office Respect Agenda and Bolton at Home to create the first resource, The Unearthing Box. This has been very enthusiastically embraced by front line staff working in Youth Offending Teams, Domestic Violence Projects, Pupil Referral Units, drug abuse, mental health and probation. Our latest projects Call Ora and The Journey are more fun ways to unearth young people's own wisdom, creativity and good qualities – watch this space to see how they are developing with funding from the Arts Council of Wales.
